About Islam

Question

In Salat (prayer) how many Rakat are in each prayer. Also what Rakat do you say tashood/durood shareef?

Answer

Well, the prayers in order are Fajr, Duhur, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. So Fajr is 2 fardh (and 2 sunnah), Duhur, Asr and Isha are 4 fardh and Maghrib is 3 fardh. In the first 2 Rakaat you say a surah after Fatiha but the 3 or 4 rakat is just Fatiha. The 2 and 4 rakaat (2 and 3rd rakat for Maghrib and 1 and 2 rakat for Fajr). In the first stop you just say tashood but in the last one you say tashood and Durood Shareef. (When you stand you look at your sujood point and move your lips to read the surahs otherwise your salah is not counted)

Question

How much Zakaat to you pay and when do you pay it?

Answer

You pay 2.5% of your yearly savings, thats every $1/$40. You should pay Zakaat in Ramdan because you get more rewards but you can pay it any time of the year. You have to pay Zakaat every year.

Question

What is the difference between Zakaat and Sadaqah?

Answer

Zakaat is giving 2.5% of your savings, that is $1/$40. It is paid every year and is fardh (compulsory) for people who have 3 ounces of gold (or $7767 (NZ) New Zealand Dollars) Sadaqah is optional charity and is not just money. It is smiling, being kind, picking up things from the road, helping people in need and poor people and spending on your family. Those are just some of the hundreds of Sadaqah that you can do. You basically give Sadaqah everyday.

Question

Why can't you show pictures of the Prophets (AS) especially Muhammad (SAWS)?

Answer

You cannot show Prophets of Allah (AS) because if you draw pictures or imagine them, then people think that they are gods and they might make idols out of them.  A good example is about some 3 men (who weren't prophets). Someone thought in those 3 mens remembrances, the people should make statues of them. So they did. Over time people started to worship them. They were praised as gods. That's why you shouldn't draw or paint prophets (AS), Allah (SWT)  or his angels because then people might worship them. Another good reason is that they might be drawn not that handsome. Even if they were drawn handsomely, they would be far more handsome than that. And plus you cannot draw Allah (SWT) /his angels because no one truly knows how they look. If even if we could see them, he especially would be so bright that we couldn't handle it. That's why only on Yaum-ul-Qiyaam (Day of judgement) we will truly see what they   all look like.

Question

How does Allah decide who goes to Jahannam (Hellfire) and who goes to Jannah (Paradise or Heaven)?

Answer

Allah (SWT) (the most merciful) decides by deeds. Good deeds lead to Jannah, bad (deeds) to Hellfire. Here are some good things that you should try to do:

Give Sadaqah by:

Smiling,

Giving charity,

Picking up harmful things from the road,

Talking nice/ saying nice words about others,

Spreading knowledge,

Making Duaa,

Having patience,

Stopping evil,

Forgiving,

Visiting the sick,

To guide someone and e.t.c.

Always respect others especially your parents/guardian (s) and your elders no matter your age. You basically do good things everyday.
