Halal and Haram

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

Halal and Haram in Islam: Halal means lawful food and Haram means unlawful food. All animals except pigs are Halal if they are slaughtered in the name of Allah. If they are not then they are Haram. Also if the animal is Halal, it might be fried with Haram animals. Example: The Halal cow is cooked in the same oil as the pig is cooked in. So then it will become Haram. Pigs are Haram in Islam medically and also because Allah (S.W.T) said in the Quraan that pigs are Haram. Seafood is also Halal. Allah says in the Quraan “O you who believes! Eat the good things that we have provided you, and give thanks to Allah, because it is him you worship. (Surat Baqarah, ayah 172)”
